Erectile Dysfunction Consults

Male Portrait

Erectile dysfunction, or ED, is when you can't achieve or maintain satisfactory erections. It's common and becomes more common as men get older.

Around 25% of men aged 65 will have some amount of ED. It can be very distressing and frustrating for both men and their partners.

Erection dysfunction may be caused by non-medical problems such as tiredness, too much alcohol or recreational drug use, stress, depression or relationship problems.

Medical causes include problems with blood flow to your penis, diabetes, prostate problems or surgery and some medications.

Our pharmacists are accredited to provide Sildenafil without a Prescription.

Sildenafil is also know as Viagra, Vedafil, Silvast, Kamagra, Silagra,  Edegra, Penegra, Manly and Zenegra.

What is involved in the consultation?

Our pharmacist will undergo a short consultation in a private consultation room with you to determine if Sildenafil is suitable for you without a prescription from a doctor.

Males who are between the ages of 35 to 70 years old are eligible to get sildenafil without a prescription.

The pharmacist will take your blood pressure and pulse to ensure it is safe for you to take sildenafil for ED.

A pulse reading below 50 or greater than 100 and a blood pressure reading less than 110/70mmHg  or  greater than 160/95mmHg requires referral to a doctor.

They will go through a series of questions regarding you ED, medical history, medication use, smoking status to ensure it is safe and Ok for you to take.

How does sildenafil work?

The mechanism of erection of the penis involves release of nitric oxide (NO) in the corpus cavernosum during sexual stimulation. NO then activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, which results in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), producing smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernosum and allowing inflow of blood and an erection to occur.

Sildenafil enhances the effect of NO by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which is responsible for degradation of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum. Sildenafil has no direct relaxant effect on isolated human corpus cavernosum. When sexual stimulation causes local release of NO, inhibition of PDE5 by sildenafil causes increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood to the corpus cavernosum.

At the recommended dose Sildenafil has no effect in the absence of sexual stimulation.
